turned shower on
climbed in
too hot
adjusted temperature
enjoyed a good soaking
turned around to shampoo hair
gaze falls on loofah
eyes lock on spider on loofah
the loofah i had had my hand next to twice

WHY. ARE. YOU. ON. MY. LOOFAH??!

of all the places!
why is it there?
was it alone?
was it a spider rendezvous?
are there spider babies in my loofah?

grab a shampoo bottle
can't use it, it's mine
grab a different shampoo bottle
tentatively shake spider off of loofah
slam shampoo bottle down on it
gleefully watch it wash down drain

moral of story:
i encounter way too many spiders

walked into bathroom.
picked up toothbrush.
started brushing teeth.
started pacing.
walked out of bathroom.
walked back into bathroom.
instant focus on spider.
a seriously large spider.
made grossed out noises.
made distressed noises.
thought about whacking it with a towel.
too big, not going near that thing.
got dad.
had him kill it.

still consider it

hiya mickey!

i sing alto. loud and proud, purposely going for the lower notes. the lower my voice, the more fun it is for unknown reasons. i even relish when i have a hacking-up-my-lungs cough because it means i can sing and talk even lower than normal.

retail has changed that.

i have become a high pitched speaker. for some reason, i associate a high register with upbeat and peppy and totally agreeable, and for some reason, i have decided to take on this trait. krista turner, formerly of the low register clan, does not exist in public anymore.

it annoys me.

i slip into it without thinking, uttering 'uh-huh! why yes i can get that hanging flower basket down for you!' in a tone an octave and a half higher than what i normally speak in. i sound like an idiot. a very peppy and eager to serve idiot, but an idiot nonetheless.

i mean no offense to anyone that naturally has a higher voice, but let's face it. a tiny and high voice does not become me.

this is not a problem at home, or with my friends, but retail man, it gets me. it's like a case of dr. jekyll and mr. hyde. only for me it's like dr. man voice and mrs. minnie mouse.

and on top of this, my nose is still recovering from surgery, so half the time i am stuffed up and nasally.

a nasally minnie mouse. that's hot. oy vey.
